Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego

A Medical Center Just For Kids

Since Children’s first opened its doors in 1954, our mission has been “to restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research and advocacy.”

Rady Children’s is San Diego region’s only designated pediatric trauma center and the only area hospital dedicated solely to pediatric care. Our goal is to help create a region where all children go to school healthy and ready to learn how to be productive, responsible citizens. Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders.

Quality pediatric care requires specialized training and a special sensitivity that is perfected through caring for children 100 percent of the time. From mild illness and injury to the most severe medical emergency, Rady Children’s specially qualified clinical staff and affiliated physicians provide a full continuum of care.

From birth through adolescence, children have special health care needs that are different from those of adults. Their bodies respond differently to injury and illness. And most children do not understand – or know how to deal with – the experience of serious illness or hospitalization. Rady Children’s responds to those needs by providing expert pediatric care within a unique healing environment.

Our healing environment, created with kids in mind, incorporates state-of-the-art technology with a climate of caring. Designed specifically to help kids get and stay healthy, Rady Children's promotes healing and reduces anxiety through a unique combination of design, light, color and art. Within this environment of caring, children and their families become part of the healing process.

In addition to caring for children at our main campus in Serra Mesa/Kearny Mesa, Rady Children’s has 15 neighborhood centers offering primary care and specialized services. Children’s is also active in numerous community outreach programs, including health education, early intervention and counseling, child abuse prevention and child safety issues.

General Rules and Policies
1. NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS.

     a. Any chapter member, whether alumni, active, or new member, seen consuming alcohol or visibly intoxicated at an event where points are awarded shall be asked to leave the venue. Their chapter will be disqualified from the corresponding and participation points, as well as placement and sponsorship points where applicable, will be forfeited.

     b. Any chapter found to be in breach of this policy during two or more events shall be disqualified from Greek Week in its entirety and will lose competition rights for the remaining Greek Week events. The chapter will also forfeit Greek Week overall placement privileges where applicable.

     c. The Greek Week Alcohol Policy is applicable for every event and supersedes any individual chapter Alcohol Rules.

2. TURN THINGS IN ON TIME WHEN ASKED! We will have a few deadlines for the Greek Week Chairs to turn information into us. Failure to meet these deadlines will result from 10 points being deducted from your teams total at the end.

3. Everyone participating in Greek Week as a representative from your team must be an active member or pledge of your UCSD chapter.

4. Unsportsmanlike conduct or harassment is prohibited. Your team will be disqualified from that event if this occurs.

5. You must wear something Greek related to every event you participate in, otherwise no points will be awarded. This includes chapter members showing up for participation points at the relevant events; they must also be in Greek related clothing. This EXCLUDES Excel leadership conference.

6. No profanity or vulgarity during ANY event. If that occurs, your team will be disqualified.

7. Any person who is a member of the Greek Week Committee is not allowed to participate in any Greek Week event for their organization. Members may only participate in Greek Week Philanthropy in order to gain philanthropic hours, but they will not be counted toward their organization’s participation percentage.

8. Event check-in for participants will begin exactly 20 minutes before the scheduled start time of the event.

9. Overall attendance will be taken at every event.  The check in for general attendance will run for half the time of the event (as each event time varies) and will stop signing in attendees at that point.

10. Attendance points will only be awarded to teams with 10 or more team members in attendance.  The value for attendance points is listed throughout the packet.

11. Unsportsmanlike conduct or harassment of Greek Week Committee members by any participant or spectator will result in a disqualification and no participation points will be awarded.

12. Unless otherwise stated, “disqualification” refers to a loss of both placement and attendance points.

13. In the case of a tie, the points for placement in question and the next placement will be added together and equally split between the two organizations. For example, if fraternities A and B tie for 2nd Place, they will each be awarded 2nd Place for the event and 3.5 points each. If fraternity C had the next highest placement, they will be awarded 4th Place and given 2 points.

14. Anyone competing in any events, including sign-in events, must have signed a waiver in order to participate in the event.
